Well Finally we managed to get around to setting up a gallery of photos from MissYucki’s trip with the Caravana de las Culturas, organised by Meri Ilic and Casa Eslava. MissYucki journeyed along with a theatrical troupe, that performed in Belgrade, Nis and Novi Sad, to promote cultural acceptance and knowledge. Being a baby of the Rainbow Nation of South Africa, MissYucki fit right in. She jumped in the caravan, and watched all the shows, laughing along with audiences in different towns, cities, and villages in Serbia. One of MissYucki’s muti monsters has embarked on a wild expedition through China. The mini ashen Muti Pup was lucky enough to be picked up by Karen Sun who has taken him with her on her travels through the vast lands of China.

For the past year the ashen Muti Pup has been privy to spectacular chinese wonder and magic. He has travelled through central China and met ancestors, explored temples and gained exciting new knowledge. He may be small but his adventures are grand, and one day he will no doubt share all he has learned with MissYucki.

For now though, Karen has sent us some fantastic pictures of the Muti Pup in action. Take a look at the images HERE and read about the amazing destinations the Muti Pup has been on his voyage.

She tells us, “Longmen Grottoes is one of the three major grottoes in China, dating back from 316 AD to 907 AD. There’re over 2000 caves and niches of different sizes, 2800 inscriptions and 43 pagodas and over 100,000 Buddhist imagines at this site. This very statue in the picture is particularly famous and incredibly well preserved as you can see. It is the largest grotto in the site, and it has now become the symbol of the City Luoyang.”

“The two figures are regarded as the ancestors of the Chinese. The stone statues were recently built, facing the Yellow River. Many people come here to pay respect and worship them.”

A while ago we recieved an email from Miyagis Girl to show us a photo of one of the muti monsters we hid in Barcelona, with their lovely painting. Look at all the cute little creatures frolicking together!
MissYucki was also spotted with another work by Miyagis Girl in the streets of Barcelona. They make a cute pair!

Alba and Kat had a grand ol time in Barcelona.
They played on the beach, drank wine, ate tapas and dug through alley trash.
They dressed up, made friends, and big plans!

They found an old mirror in the street, painted yucki creatures on it, and sent it back to the crazy town that is Barcelona. What will Alba & Kat get up to next for MissYucki. Stay tuned!

My My what a year it has been! Mostly filled with acquiring new skills! MissYucki has been missioning the world over, studying hard, and foraging for new ideas, new muti and most of all pageant power!

This year saw the opening of the MissYucki online wonder chamber, our own little shop! wow! It’s been a tricky mindfield of new experiences and hard work, but the team at MissYucki has done some fantastic work, so three cheers! 2009 should expect many new ventures and art experiences.

As an ode to the old year, MissYucki collaborated with fellow South African artist Rat Western and painted Johannesburg a riot of colours! It was a great way to end off the year, and we hope that everyones’ 2009 is filled with rainbows and pageant power!
